Making Rosettes
One of Tom’s favorite Christmas activities was to make rosettes, a traditional Scandinavian fried cookie. We celebrated Dad’s birthday by making dozens of rosettes with a 130-year-old rosette iron that originally belonged to Grandma Semke’s mother.
After seasoning the iron, Lisa watches Heather and Ryan make our first pair of rosettes.

Lisa holds Silvie, who licks her lips in anticipation as Steven makes another batch.

Ryan was our quality-control inspector watching for delicious “floaters.” Laura wore Dad’s pajamas to the party!

Would you believe we ate most of these rosettes in one sitting?
Lisa and Mom sample the goods.
Got rosettes?
Happy Birthday, Dad. We missed you today!
